Canadian Engineering Firms Rebuild Haitian Schools
– Halsall is pleased to join fellow
engineering firms Quinn Dressel and Associates, Read
Jones Christofferson and Blackwell Bowick to help
rebuild Haitian schools devastated by the January
earthquake. All firms are providing their time,
expertise and resources pro bono. We commend Halsall’s
Liz Oldershaw for her initiative in coordinating this
effort with Finn Aid Church, a Finnish NGO.

Low Carbon IT Campaign Certificate for Third Consecutive
Year – Halsall is pleased to earn ENERGY STAR’S 2010
certification for our demonstrated commitment to reducing
the energy consumed by our computers and monitors. We even
exceeded ENERGY STAR standards through measures like
switching to OptiPlex 980 computers - Dell’s award winning
low energy desktop - and our pilot testing of Zero Client
virtual desktops that use as little as two watts of power.

Association of Heritage Professionals Honours Halsall’s Work
- Halsall is privileged to
be part of the team that received the 2010
Craftsmanship Award for the exterior cladding
restoration of 20 Richmond Street East, Toronto – a 19th
Century building and designated Historical Site. CAHP’s jury
commented that our approach demonstrated a deep commitment
to the client and to preserving the heritage site. We
congratulate the project team, including The Restorers Group
(contractor) and 20 Vic Management, OPB Realty (client) on
this achievement.

Awarded for Advancing use of Wood across Ontario
- Halsall
was honoured with two awards at the 10th Annual Wood WORKS!
Gala for promoting the use of wood in structural design. In
presenting Halsall with the Engineer Wood Advocate
Award, Wood WORKS! commended us for “helping Ontario
achieve recognition for leadership when it comes to wood use
in large healthcare facilities.” Halsall was also a member
of the design team that won the Institutional Wood
Design Award for our extensive use of wood on the
North Bay Regional Hospital.

As a company deeply committed to sustainability, Halsall
undertook a major renovation and expansion of its existing
22nd floor office space. We focused on reducing negative
environmental impact by minimizing energy and water
consumption during design and reusing and recycling existing
materials through construction. By applying our progressive
thinking in sustainability, we succeeded in creating a green
office for employees and achieving LEED® Gold for the
project.

2010 - Halsall Joins Parsons Brinckerhoff – Halsall is
excited to announce that we have joined Parsons Brinckerhoff
(PB), the global professional services firm specializing in
infrastructure planning, design and program/ construction
management. The merger, which includes Halsall’s sister
companies, Pivotal and Loop, is effective today. Read full
